Hard-of-Hearing Hiking Page

John holding his cat Una The Deaf have well established communities, but the HOH are caught in between the hearing and the Deaf worlds. I personally don't use sign language even though my hearing loss is quite severe. Good phone amplifiers and two hearing aides get me by. Besides, I'm a good lip reader. Anyway, I was thinking it would be neat to find some hard-of-hearing hiking partners. We could share HOH problems, advantages, etc. As you can see from my hiking section, I like to do a variety of hikes with varying levels of difficulty. I live in the greater Seattle area.

Other activities could be snowshoeing, fishing, car camping, backpacking, hunting fossils/petrified wood...you name it! My latest interest is geocaching.Check out www.geocaching.com. Basically, you use your gps to hunt for caches which have logged waypoints at the site.

Update: I'm back in the Seattle area now.
